Home, Home on the Range
90F/ It did not get as warm as they thought it might today, but a bit more humid. I sat still as somehow I pulled a muscle in the side of my tummy, and it feels better to not move around much. I entertained myself reading old documents and looking at pictures that tell the story of one of our relatives who struck out from Michigan to Texas in the 1890s. John Christian Walter settled at Sagerton TX which is north of Abilene TX. Here are pictures of him and his barn and meat market. Later in the early 1920s he moved 150 miles NW to the Lubbock TX area. The third picture is of his new home there. Talk about flat! Thankfully there were communities of other German Lutherans and churches where he met his future wife and their children were baptized, confirmed, married, and buried, completing the circle of life in the Lord.
