What Did You Learn from Your Family?
A Facebook and school friend asked what we learned from our families. Thanks, Sue, for posting such a great question. Here is my answer. What would you say?
The first thing my family taught me was the Good News of the Gospel and how to share it with others. My mom taught me to cook, clean, embroider, to write letters and essays, and to speak in public with confidence. My dad taught me about plants, animals, and boats, how to use tools, and to try to be kind even to difficult people. My Grandpa Becker who died when I was little taught me to be gentle, kind, to not be a complainer, and to give back to my community. My Grandma Becker taught me how to walk and carry myself with poise, have polite manners, and to try to make the world a better place for others. My Grandpa Garchow taught me how to be hospitable and welcoming to all. My Grandma Garchow taught me to play Euchre, to sew, and to lean on the Lord come what may. My Aunt Jane who was more like a big sister taught me to ride a bike, the times tables, to cook and bake, to enjoy the little things in life, and never give up no matter what happens. All in All, the members of my family were great teachers with lots of patience. I am so thankful to the Lord for them.
