The Rest of the Story

Some of the stories I find in my family history work make me shake my head, some break my heart, but others like this one put a big smile on my face. All the folks in this story are deceased.

One of my female relatives married a young man our family really liked. Sadly, after a number of years, for whatever reasons, they parted ways. We were sorry to have this fella leave our family circle. I always wondered what happened to him after that time and how his life turned out.

The other day, quite by accident, I came upon a tantalizing bit of info, which I followed down the rabbit hole, and came up with the rest of the story. With a little more digging, I even found a newspaper picture to go with it.

Here's what happened. After a few years this gentleman moved to a different town. There he met a lady who loved Christmas and all that went with it. Each year they transformed themselves into Mr and Mrs Claus. For the last 16 years of his life he was Santa for the children of his adopted town and surrounding area.

I am so happy this life story had a happy ending.
