What do you know or remember about your grandparents? What did you learn from them?

Gleanings from My Birthday Book: 

HeHimself's Grandpa Rueber was born on this day in 1891. He farmed in Iowa through the Wars, the Depression, and the Dust Bowl years, sent two sons to WWII, lost a toddler son to the Influenza Epidemic and nearly died himself. We miss this steadfast man of faith.

On this day in 1983 my Grandma Becker passed on to Glory at age 96. The strong, elegant matriarch of our clan taught us by example to be mannerly, community minded, resourceful, forward thinking but appreciative of our heritage, people of faith. She co-founded the Health Dept. of our county, lead numerous community support organizations, and as a widow travelled to all 50 states. She left us quite a legacy to follow.
