Do You Visit and Tend Your Family Gravesites? Blog 20

Do you know where your relatives are buried? Do you visit and dress their graves?

In German today is der Todestag of my brother David. In English that is his Memorial Day or Deathday. His ashes are buried in the family plot, surrounded by our parents, grandparents, as well as some of our aunts, uncles, and cousins. Sister Cindy designed his headstone to reflect his faith and his love of skiing on the slopes of Michigan and Utah. 

Our Grandmother Becker wrote a letter to be read at her funeral. In one part she talks about our family plot and how she hopes we will always visit and tend it. She asked that a bench be provided so that we might linger a bit and share our memories. 

Although I am unable to go there today because of distance, I do so in spirit.
